Mission

The United States Army Europe Military History Office (MHO) is responsible for history programs and activities throughout the command. The primary mission of Military History Office is to preserve accurate, thorough, and objective historical  record of the command's activities and operations. This function is accomplished through the preparation and publication of historical narratives - classified annual histories of the command, historical monographs and special studies. The MHO maintains a historical research collection of both classified and unclassified material pertaining to the command, a collection that is constantly growing.

The research collection enables the MHO to respond to requests for historical background material in support of the USAREUR headquarters staff, to respond to queries from other US agencies or the general public, and to support professional development activities undertaken by units. The MHO plans for, and monitors the implementation of historical activities in support of USAREUR units in wartime and contingency operations.
